Lounge Thoughts
November is a big month for us featuring lots of travel and fun partnerships with other community organizations. We love supporting the local community and doing whatever we can to help increase the number of fun events around Seattle so that all of you feel like you are a part of a vibrant community.
Seattle Bouldering Project Poplar reached out to us about helping them jump start their community event series and we couldn’t resist getting involved. We’ve been working together with them to design a fun new event that puts a twist on traditional speed friending.
We realized that some folks are good at one on one conversations while others are better in group settings. So for this event we’re combining the best of both worlds. The first half will be one on one hangouts with attendees and then in the second half we’ll divide you up into groups of around 5 people to play our favorite Jenga game. You’ll be answering questions and performing fun tasks every time you draw a tile as you bond with your fellow group members. It’s an experiment and we’re excited to see how it goes!
SBP will continue to host this kind of event throughout the month but targeted at specific demographics so you can really find your people! We’ll then rejoin SBP at the end of the month for a Board Game night, where you can sit down and play some board games with all the new friends you made this month!
After our SBP event, we’re flying off to Dublin to help run Pitch a Friend in Dublin! You may be thinking, this is so random, how did this even come about? And why Dublin? It’s a funny story, our Tiktok on Pitch A Friend went viral a while back and someone from Dublin saw it and reached out about trying to set something up in Dublin. We couldn’t help but throw all of our support behind this and have since been working very hard to organize this event half way around the world! We’re really excited and will provide and update on how it goes once we get back!
Chatting with Grainne, our partner in Dublin, it was really funny listening as she described all the same problems you see in Seattle happening in Dublin! It turns out, no matter where you live Dating is difficult and we all see the same behavior unfold. We’re glad that she is willing to try and help out her community and tackle the problem of Loneliness in Dublin! And we’re more than happy to support her and help change the world!
At the Seattle Social Club, we believe we’re all in this together. The more events that we can get ramped up in local (and remote) communities, the better off all our attendees are and the more we all feel connected! So with that being said, if you are part of an organization in the community or you’re just a single person with an idea for a great event you’ve been itching to host, come talk to us! Let’s see if we can support your efforts and help jumpstart your contributions to the community. Feel free to email us at [email protected] or DM us on instagram @theseattleclub!
Communities are made up of all us and our contributions back into the community, so come join us in solving Loneliness!
